All About Leather
Leather looks good, feels great, performs as no man-made product can,
and lasts a lifetime. The more you learn about leather, the more
you will understand its many advantages. The more you learn about the
Leather Depot, the more you will know why Leather Depot is No. 1.
Leather Depot searches the world for the finest leathers because we want to cater
to your absolute comfort. We use only premium leathers
from full top-grain
to exotics. The hides we use are the strongest most supple kind. They retain
their original ability to absorb moisture and regulate surface temperature to
keep you comfortable. Leather Depot's hides are aniline dyed for consistent color
throughout the hide, not just on the surface. Leather Depot never uses "splits",
vinyl, leather-match or leatherette. The buttery soft texture, rich aroma, elegant
appearance and exquisite comfort tell you your Leather Depot furniture is 100%
premium leather, and our exclusive warranty guarantees it!
"Leather Start to Finish"
Leather is a by-product of the meat-packing industry. Cattle have never been raised for their hides alone. In fact, if not for the leather industry, this remarkable resource would go to waste. Leather is one of the most durable, environmentally-sound, value-conscious upholstery materials available. Leather stands up to wear-and-tear that would ravage other upholstery materials, it defies fashion trends that render fabrics obsolete, its processing has minimal impact on the environment. In every respect, leather is the natural choice.

The Natural Beauty Marks of Leather:
Leather is the fastest growing upholstery material used in the United States
today because of its strength and pleasant feel. Only genuine leather carries
natural markings unique to each hide. These are nature's beauty marks on leather
and your guarantee that 100% leather has been used in our furniture. These
hallmarks give leather its distinction and elegance, as well as proof positive
that your furniture was crafted with genuine leather.

Tanning Process
Although the process of turning hide into leather varies with each tanner, some steps are quite similar. First, the hides are cured by immersing them in a vat of salt solution which prevents the hides from deteriorating and preserves them until the tanning process can begin. In this way, a quantity of hides can be stored prior to tanning.
