Leather Characteristics
The natural surface of leather is similar to wood grain, each has it's own distinct Characteristics. These unique features exude authenticity and accentuate the landscape of each individual hide. Please review some of the most common natural markings found on select leather hides:
Healed Scars
Healed scars can add a wealth of character to your furniture. When Choosing Leathers that are more select, fewer scars will be visible. |
Fat Wrinkles
Fat wrinkles are very desirable in pure aniline leathers and add natural beauty to each piece.
Color Variations
Since pure aniline leathers are dyed and not pigment top-coated, subtle color variations should be expected. |
Rough Neck Wrinkles
Pen fed cattle can develop rough necks. This action may cause the neck to become callous-like, making this area of the hide unusable. |
Insect bits
small insect bites that are "healed" are acceptable but "open" insect bites are not acceptable. |
Urine/Manure Burns
Manure and urine are very acidic and burns may be eliminated, depending on the severity of the affected area. |
Open Scars
Open Scars are considered defects and will not be found on your furniture. |
Brands
Although the strength of the leather is not weakened, brands will not be cut into visible areas of your furniture. |
